Egypt to Showcase its Outsourcing Capabilities at Gartner Symposium/ITxpo

Barcelona, Spain / Egypt, Cairo– November 8, 2017: ITIDA, Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency, will be showcasing Egypt’s global outsourcing capabilities and offerings at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo from November 5-9, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. The event is seen as the world's most important gathering of CIOs and senior IT executives.

The country’s IT agency representatives will provide insight into the country’s unique advantages as an offshoring location for IT and business process outsourcing. The participation also allows the Egyptian delegation to highlight the emerging importance of Egypt in the global outsourcing market.

Egypt has been recognized by various institutions and leading consultancy firms for the significant level of support its ICT sector receives from the Egyptian government, as well as its unique advantages, multi-talented workforce, lower labor costs than traditional outsourcing destinations like India and China.

In its July 2017 "Evaluate Offshore/Nearshore Countries for Outsourcing, Shared Services and Captives in EMEA, 2017" report, Gartner has identified Egypt, for the second year in a row, as one of the primary locations in the EMEA region for outsourcing, shared services and captive centers. The research is considered a viable source for Sourcing and vendor management leaders when picking the countries that best meet their requirements for IT and business process services.

Gartner mentioned that “Egypt’s attractiveness as an outsourcing location stems from a combination of skilled and competitively priced staff, a geographical location convenient for EMEA operations, and strong English language skills.”

The report also noted that Egypt’s “continued growth is driven by the substantial numbers of graduates produced each year, business parks in all major cities, and good telecommunications and airline links to Europe.”

According to ITIDA, Egypt has a strong telecommunications infrastructure, with 36% of the country now covered by fiber-optic networking, and 17 undersea cables connecting it to the rest of the world.

This year, Egypt’s ICT sector has emerged and performed outstandingly driving the country’s economic growth with an exceptional annual growth rate of 12.5%, an export volume of USD 1.87 billion per year, 90,000 direct offshoring jobs and 3.2% contribution to the country’s GDP.

The sector is currently embarking on fresh investments and a series of expansion plans of existing global IT companies that have already recognized Egypt’s potential and invested in it.
